Screening Soybean Germplasm for Presence of Cda1 Allele Involved in Low Cadmium Accumulation Using Molecular Markers

Soybean is an important source of plant protein used in human diets. Cadmium (Cd) from agricultural soil a toxic metal for plants, including soybean. Furthermore, the cadmium taken up to seeds soybean and becomes risk animals by feed food chain. A method avoid this represented selection breeding lines/cultivars with genetic potential minimized accumulation. This work reports approach assisted DNA-markers cultivars low Cd-accumulation. In study, we screened alleles Cda1 gene, 22 cultivars, using three DNA markers (SSR-Sack149, Gm-dCAPS-HMA1 Cda1-KASP). The results showed that 11 genotypes carried allele accumulation, 8 had high accumulation were heterozygous/heterogenous. All classified same manner but KASP marker more efficient marker-assisted selection/breeding Cda1. study offers valuable information breeders other researches regarding germplasm pursuit reducing Cd-accumulation assuring safety worldwide.
